Thus saith the LORD, they Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” (Isaiah 48:17).

This verse said to the people of Israel, a Peculiar People, and we believers are also a Peculiar people. “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (Tit. 2:14; see also I Peter 2:9).

Peculiar People means: “One`s own property – a purchased possession. How we are peculiar people: Because God says that, He is our Redeemer, we are His purchased Possession and we are taught and led by the Lord” The Holy Spirit witnesses that we are the children of God, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” Romans 8:16

We as a peculiar people of God must profit by His teaching and by His leading. Profit is always understood in the sense of financial gain. But that does not necessarily mean here. By His teaching and leading we must profit to grow spiritually to matured in Christ! The ultimate purpose of this should be turning to be the express image of Christ.
