FYI: Learning to be CONTENT
What brings contentment? Contentment is a gift from God and grows out of having His perspective on life. It’s in the Bible, Philippians 4:12-13, NIV. “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
Contentment grows out of humility and trust in God. Psalm 131:1, NIV. “My heart is not proud, O Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.”
Contentment grows out of devotion to Christ and eternal values. Matthew 6:24, NIV. “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”
Coveting is a barrier to contentment. Exodus 20:17, NIV. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or ANYTHING that belongs to your neighbor.” Like his new car, new house, new bling bling, no trying to keep up with the ‘Jones ‘. Trying to be ‘bougee’ when you don’t have a pot to pee in. Jackson 10:3
