FYI: Ruling YOUR Spirit

FYI:  Ruling YOUR Spirit

Proverbs. 25:28. “He that hath not rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls.” Proverbs 16:32 says, “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.”
A person who does not rule his or her own spirit will be ruled by the things of this world. The truth put forth in Prov.25 is that any area that a person does not rule will become an entrance for the enemy. Notice what a person that hath no rule over his spirit is like: “a city that is broken down and without walls.” That simply means he is open to the enemy’s attack. The wall of protection is broken down. It is within our ability to rule our spirit, especially if we have been born again. Paul said in 1 Cor. 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Paul told Timothy in 2 Tim. 2:21-22 “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” It is OUR responsibility to rule our own spirit, and put the guard on our lives.
