FAQ: Do I Have To Be Baptized In Jesus’ Name To Be Saved?

Q.  Baptism In Jesus Name.   I received Jesus as my saviour and was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.  Some of my pentacostal friends told me that I am not saved because I wasn’t baptized in the name of Jesus.
A.  Yes,  you are saved regardless of what name you were baptized in.  This is the ‘Jesus Only’ Doctrine taught mainly by those of the Apostolic Denomination.  The teaching is erroroneous.  We are not saved by water but by the Lord Jesus only.

The Bible teach that there is one God manifest in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  The Jesus Only movement teach that Christ is the Father, He is the Son, and He is the Holy Spirit.  Thus, the name, Jesus Only.  This is so wrong!! They conclude that if one is  not baptized in the name of Jesus, their sins cannot be forgiven and they will be lost.  This is nothing but baptismal regeneration.  Most pentacostals also teach clothes-vation, tithe-vation, etc.   This is why many sinners are confused and don’t attend church.  You can literally visit 10 churches and you will hear 10 different ways to be saved.  Honey, there is only one way and that is found in Romans 10:9, 10.  Just keep this in mind.  Anything that is linked or associated with salvation is legalized religion.  We are saved by grace and not of works.

However, we believe that new testament should be baptized in Jesus’ name, but not for salvation.  We are in the sixth dispensation and everything should be done in His name.   ” And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”  Colossians 3:17  Jesus has been exalted in this dispensation.

For more information you may email and request the brochure, “The Jesus Only Movement”.  In the near future, I intend to write a blog for a deeper explanation of this topic -and other topics on this page.
