FYI: Jehovah Witness

The theology of the Jehovah’s Witnesses denies every significant doctrine or biblical truth including the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the Virgin Birth, the Resurrection, the Second Coming, the work on the Cross, the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, salvation, eschatology, the nature of man, and hell.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses impose a false system of doctrine upon the Word of God that comes directly from the writings of. Charles Taze Russell. His character and integrity was questionable.

This cult violates every sound principle of hermeneutics (biblical interpretation) to support its teachings. It’s leaders are especially guilty of taking strings of verses out of context and of making Hebrew and Greek words mean only what they want them to mean.

Jehovah’s Witnesses have produced their own “translation” of the Bible, known as The New World Translation. It, along with other literature, is distributed all around the world. It changes scriptures to fit the erroneous doctrines of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Here are some examples:

1. John 1:1 is rendered “the Word was a god” in order to deny the deity of Jesus Christ. This is contrary to Greek grammar and the King’s James version which requires the passage be rendered ” the Word was God.”

2. The New World Translation of the New Testament uses the name “Jehovah” for God despite the fact that not one of the thousands of Greek New Testament manuscripts uses the Hebrew name YHVH (Yahweh) for God. Witnesses believe that Jehovah is the only true name for God, this word is never used for God in the original Scriptures. YHVH is better rendered Yahweh.

3. This translation adds words that are not in the Greek (e.g., Col. 1:16, By means of him all other things were created”). It also distorts or deletes many other words from the original text.
